Frollini Receives Top SCS Honors

By Josh Quicksall

Nick Frollini, Deputy Director of the Institute for Software Research, was honored by the School of Computer Science for outstanding service during the 8th Annual Founders Day event on April 2.

The SCS Staff Recognition Award for Outstanding Service is presented only once per year and serves to acknowledge staff who make meaningful contributions to their respective departments.

“A great deal of the success and positive morale in ISR can be attributed to the hard work and dedication of Nick Frollini” noted the group of ISR staffers who put forward Frollini’s name for the award. “Not only a strong supporter and advocate, Nick shares much of his time and energy being a teacher, mentor, and coach to the staff.  A great manager helps his group not only identify but hone their own individual skills and talents. This not only leads to our own personal successes, but truly builds a strong, effective, and synergic team.”

Dabney Schlea, who helped lead the campaign for the award, noted that even the nomination itself is significant. “The nomination had 21 individual staff members lending their name to the effort” Schlea explains. “This is a testament to the impact that Nick has made on the department. We have amazing staff in ISR, and having Nick’s support and encouragement really facilitates a work environment that is not only healthy, but also supportive and professionally nurturing.”

The faculty, staff, and students of the department wish to extend our most sincere congratulations and thanks to Nick on this award. As the co-nominating staff put it in their letter to the awards committee, “Nick does a great job of regularly expressing his appreciation to the team, and it’s time that we do the same for him.”
